Political parties are associations, not public utilities, and nominee selection is their core speech. Forcing Republicans to let Democrats help pick Republican candidates is compelled association, plain and simple. That’s how RINOs survive and grassroots voters get sidelined. The Texas GOP voted for closed primaries. The AG agrees. The Secretary of State resists—by Abbott’s leave. That’s a choice. If Abbott won’t defend the party’s First Amendment rights, he’s protecting the establishment, not Republican voters. Call it what it is.
