Now that I have grandkids at the age of retaining knowledge of history I will ask their parents to include his yearly narration in their Thanksgiving homeschool routine. When the grands were first born I purchased Rush Revere history books for them. I hope Rush's widow will continue the series some day.
Today Jeff Childers Coffee&Covid on his Substack did a detailed history on the establishment of Thanksgiving in America. It's worth the read.
Now to find some Mannheim Steamroller music. The tradition continues. Happy Thanksgiving.
Rush also could have referenced the VA colony that learned the same lesson. Work or die. Idle people were an issue. On a small scale the failure of socialism has been repeatedly demonstrated. Perhaps on a larger scale we tolerate it more but still the disincentive is seen in the X TikToks where folk enjoy not working. Eventually workers become less motivated. Productivity moves elsewhere.

As a Judeo-Christian nation I believe we have an obligation to the widow and orphan, as the Bible teaches. Healthy and able? Work or go hungry.
