This is the typical Democrat playbook. All surface, with nothing underneath.

It's the same as how they always think the problem is that the message didn't come out right, or strong enough, or repeated enough, instead of the problem being the message itself. Or thinking that the candidate is wrong when it was the policy that was wrong. Or thinking that having a bunch of people carry the same manufactured signs proves the existence of a movement.

It's all dressing. And they hope that nobody looks beneath the thin and flimsy surface.

Well, you have been far too kind. Let's not mince words: dude's a heretic. Nothing I've heard him say or seen reported is anything but distortion, mostly along the lines of ancient heresies long since repudiated and condemned. It's incredibly offensive.

How it will play in TX politics depends on how many voters are unclear on the concept. His timing looks bad to me, though. 15-20 years ago, social justice was stealthily ascendant in establishment churches ('tolerance' displacing doctrine in smoke-filled backrooms of church politics). Many had, as you describe, rebuilt internally, rejecting Christ & embracing the world, while keeping shreds of the facade intact. Yet no longer being Christian they began failing, shrinking, and dying, driving away faithful individuals and increasingly entire congregations -- dramatically exacerbated 2020-present. PCUSA had 2.5m members in 2000 and probably not even 1m in 2025; we're familiar with a United Methodist congregation that literally chiseled the "United" out of its stonework sign after successfully exiting.

It definitely resembles the level of brilliance that ran Tampon Tim as a regular guy while claiming JD Vance was weird. I guess we'll see if it works better this time than last.

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

~ Matthew 7:15

This guy is truly a piece of work! He is sooo marinated in his falsity it comes off as sincere. He has twisted and perverted the very Word of God to justify sinfulness, which is an abomination. God have mercy on anyone who falls for it.

Dems couldn’t come up with a better choice against Crockett? They went from nut to nuttier.

So typical of the Democrat Party. But they are kept in power by mid and dim-wits, of which we presently have an oversupply. Many Christians in all categories unfortunately lack discernment with respect to matters of their own faith, and I hope they notice the appalling apostasy of this charlatan.

“ beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits….” Matthew 7:15

Talarico is a false prophet, false pastor, speaking a progressive religion not in line with true Christianity. I had read prior to the primary he was more radical than Crockett. At least with her, you knew what her craziness embraced. With him, you have a truly radical progressive activist. Texans won’t fall for his radical views; however, Democrats know how to cheat and the media will go right along with the Democrats.

Seems to me (FWIW) that Talarico is a new twist on the Marxists' "liberation theology." That is, creating a chimera of Christianity in order to advance a hostile (or at least contradictory) ideology.

Perhaps with a little Jim Bakker charlatanism thrown in.

Thank you! You expose significant theological problems with Talarico's positions. Great architecture analogy. He is preaching complete heresy while claiming to be Christian. It is the great tragedy of the modern era how rapidly ANY number of American's could embrace his rationale. We've all witnessed alarming shifts and departure from true Christian faith which includes Jesus' teaching addressing what 'marriage' truly IS - God's idea: male & female! with the analogy of Christ as Bridegroom/Church as Bride - all to glorify God and bring right and effectual blessing to the world. [God, who is LOVE, is not void of truth, judgement, and reality.] I PRAY that Talarico's candidacy will expose false doctrine and increase Christians' understanding of true theology and development of a more rigorous faith foundation. These days there are same-sex attracted Christians who wisely recognize a higher call and identity (redeemed sinner) and uphold and LIVE true discipleship of Christ, rejecting immorality. Look up Sam Alberry to start.

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."-- Matt 5: 17

He’s a FRAUD!!

None of this matters, because Talarico will always vote along party lines just like any other Dem they could have chosen. Democrats are fungible.

Severely underrated comment ☝️

"Democrats are fungible" should be copywrited!

Let's hope Texans are smart enough not to fall for Talarico's deceptions. You really can't tell a book by its cover. He was a better choice than Crockett, who was the punchline of a lot of good jokes. She thought her color would win for her; she apparently never heard of white supremacy.

Talarico is not a practicing Christian. His quote from the Gospel of Thomas from the pulpit is blasphemy. Thomas was never in canon. His "gospel" was written too late, did not have the story of Jesus as it's center, and is a collection of sayings not attributable to Jesus. The views Talarico quotes are not Christian, therefore he's not Christian. He may have followers, however he's leading them on the path to hell.

John Wygertz's avatar

Talarico's election shows that Democrats do not understand Christianity - they think it's just words.

To use your architectural analogy: the Christian house has a front door that leads to salvation; the Talarico house sort of looks the same but the front door opens onto the pit of Hell.

Democrat Texan primary voters voted for Talarico because either a) they believed Congresswoman Crockett was too unserious to challenge the GOP; b) they needed someone to Crockett’s left on most issues; or both. I think you give the Democrat party far too much credit to think they could use the language and fool most people. They picked Talarico for the same reason they picked Buttigieg. They pretend he is moderate because he doesn’t speak like Crockett but he is just as far left as the rest of them.
