A statement of faith by politicians, ESPECIALLY by a Democrat, isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit. That’s correct about Tallywhacker’s use of dubious vocabulary. The real struggle is over control of the dictionary. When someone told you they believed in the resurrection of Christ, now you have to follow up with the question asking was it a bodily or spiritual resurrection?
I would like to inform people that as early as post 9/11, many delegates to the Texas State Convention voted to remove ALL reference to God and Biblical principles from the Republican platform. I was a delegate just beginning to test my own commitment to political structure. Their amendments had to be overruled by the GOP leaders. The Democrats have sought to undermine sound leadership by deceptively running as Republicans or with candidates chosen from people who never make a concrete statement for liberal or conservative positions. Case in point? Remember Wendy Davis? She served on a North Texas school board. Claimed to be conservative. Uninformed voters believed her. Horrible person, Texans from her district couldn't wait to kick her out. We don't have a voting record for Talarico. But his own words convict him. Don't trust him,Texas,or we'll have a situation like Virginia has now. The voters were totally duped by PR created campaign promises of governing as a moderate. Those lies soured voters immediately when Spannberger began promoting large tax increases and sanctuary policies from day one. "D" stands for Democrat--it also stands for duplicitous!!
Interesting article, showing there is nothing new under the sun. The Hebrews couldn't keep the Mosaic law so a political class of Rabbis, Scribes and Pharisees installed themselves as the ruling class of faith. Perhaps Saul was the most serious of this class. Jesus, the Son of God by the virgin Mary, took on the form of man to communicate to man because our faith is easily shaken. Jesus battled the ruling class daily in His very short ministry. The ruling class was threatened and used the means available to them to have their 'Jesus problem' taken care of. Worked great for three days.
I see the modern Democrat Party as anti Christ, anti freedom, anti family, anti child. Simply read their platform. The Democrat Party is being taken over by a new ruling class called the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA), a truly progressive radical anti American group. The old Democrat party is the party of slavery and the KKK, the DSA wing is taking this to new heights.
By now I have upset many Christ believing Democrats, which is part of my intent. Salvation does not come through affiliation, of a party, a religious denomination, or through works. Salvation is only obtained through the Son. Remember, Jesus did not start a new church or new religion, he came to end all that and show by His example the way to eternal life and taking mine and your place on the cross.
After Jesus rose on the third day, He showed up among the Disciples which were cowering in an upper room fearing for their lives, Jesus appeared among them (He didn't knock on the door by the way) to encourage them and let them know their journey had just begun. Even Thomas believed at that moment the their friend and their God had arisen and not left them alone. As Jesus left them again to sit at the right hand of God in Heaven, He told them that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit. Because we are weak and need demonstrations, the teaching said the Disciples heard and felt a wind and they were filled. They became strong and wise, speaking in language and dialect they were not raised with. They amazed the crowds, being able to communicate the teachings of Christ in ways they could understand. The Church was born.
I will be accused of being judgmental and I will take that stripe gladly. I am afraid there are many Democrats and DSA members that do not carry the Holy Spirit within them. There are Republicans too, and many other organized and dis-organized groups that are void of the Holy Spirit. Speaking personally, with the Holy Spirit in me, I have trouble with sin. There is only one void in the soul that can be filled with one thing and that is God through the Son called Jesus. When I desire sin, and I do, I am troubled by the Holy Spirit, I'm uncomfortable, because I know I am diluting the gift of blood on that cross. I fight temptation, I stay on the narrow path. I keep my eyes on the Truth and the Light.
People like Talarico deceive themselves, and work diligently to deceive others, that sin is fungible. Much like the serpent said to Eve in the Garden at the tree "did God really say". The serpent, slick, attractive, smooth talking convinced Eve that God didn't really mean what He said. Sin was acted upon and here we are. Multiple genders and mutilation. Love is love. Sin is what I define it to be. Life begins when I decide it does.
I assure you, Talarico does not teach the wholeness of scripture. His type can't because they will convict themselves with the truth. And there are many Talarico's out there today. The people that attend these 'churches' wish only to have their ears tickled, to meet with others that are deceived because there is comfort when surrounded with like minds. These teachers are strong on the love Jesus taught, but weak on judgment, which Jesus also taught. 'Not all that say Lord, Lord, will find their way through the gate of Heaven'.
With the events in Persia and surrounding countries perhaps Talarico and others will find themselves studying the final writing of John in the book of Revelation. Hopefully they wont skip over chapters two and three, the letters from Jesus to the seven churches.
I know this comment is too long for most to read, maybe the one or two that do will get something out of it. I do appreciate AMUSE for providing this forum and spring board for us to exercise our freedom of expression and speech. I attempted to do so without name calling. I love the sinner but hate the sin. Truth is available to all that call on Him. I am saved by the blood of Jesus. I attend non denominational churches. I am neither Democrat or Republican. I battle sin daily. I am filled with the Holy Spirit. Resurrection Sunday is rapidly approaching, will it be our last?
Hey Texans, don't overthink this. Vote Republican, whether it's Paxton or Cornyn. Either will be WAY BETTER for TEXAS, than this woke, fake "Christian" Democrat.
Paxton OVER Cornyn. We Texans are smart enough to remember how Cornyn stabbed us in the back over persecuting our J6 brothers and sisters! God Bless Texas
This is the typical Democrat playbook. All surface, with nothing underneath.
It's the same as how they always think the problem is that the message didn't come out right, or strong enough, or repeated enough, instead of the problem being the message itself. Or thinking that the candidate is wrong when it was the policy that was wrong. Or thinking that having a bunch of people carry the same manufactured signs proves the existence of a movement.
It's all dressing. And they hope that nobody looks beneath the thin and flimsy surface.
Well, you have been far too kind. Let's not mince words: dude's a heretic. Nothing I've heard him say or seen reported is anything but distortion, mostly along the lines of ancient heresies long since repudiated and condemned. It's incredibly offensive.
How it will play in TX politics depends on how many voters are unclear on the concept. His timing looks bad to me, though. 15-20 years ago, social justice was stealthily ascendant in establishment churches ('tolerance' displacing doctrine in smoke-filled backrooms of church politics). Many had, as you describe, rebuilt internally, rejecting Christ & embracing the world, while keeping shreds of the facade intact. Yet no longer being Christian they began failing, shrinking, and dying, driving away faithful individuals and increasingly entire congregations -- dramatically exacerbated 2020-present. PCUSA had 2.5m members in 2000 and probably not even 1m in 2025; we're familiar with a United Methodist congregation that literally chiseled the "United" out of its stonework sign after successfully exiting.
It definitely resembles the level of brilliance that ran Tampon Tim as a regular guy while claiming JD Vance was weird. I guess we'll see if it works better this time than last.
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
~ Matthew 7:15
This guy is truly a piece of work! He is sooo marinated in his falsity it comes off as sincere. He has twisted and perverted the very Word of God to justify sinfulness, which is an abomination. God have mercy on anyone who falls for it.
So typical of the Democrat Party. But they are kept in power by mid and dim-wits, of which we presently have an oversupply. Many Christians in all categories unfortunately lack discernment with respect to matters of their own faith, and I hope they notice the appalling apostasy of this charlatan.
“ beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits….” Matthew 7:15
Talarico is a false prophet, false pastor, speaking a progressive religion not in line with true Christianity. I had read prior to the primary he was more radical than Crockett. At least with her, you knew what her craziness embraced. With him, you have a truly radical progressive activist. Texans won’t fall for his radical views; however, Democrats know how to cheat and the media will go right along with the Democrats.
Perhaps, Ruth H, there's not as many Texans in Texas as there used to be, thus it's much easier to convince voters that this candidate with incisors is really just another sheep.
He wasn't progressive as the far left would define the term. Jesus, though, wanted all to be valued as having been created in the image of God. He as creator gives us our value and our boundaries and duties.
Seems to me (FWIW) that Talarico is a new twist on the Marxists' "liberation theology." That is, creating a chimera of Christianity in order to advance a hostile (or at least contradictory) ideology.
Perhaps with a little Jim Bakker charlatanism thrown in.

I’m willing to give GENEROUSLY for a Bounty on this son of Satan!
Not surprised.
The Democrats and Leftists Satanist Political Agendas are not the People’s Friends!
They’re just useless Pawns for the Party!

After doing some homework, I agree with you 100%. Paxton is the choice for Texans.

Brilliant piece, Alexander!

That would be truly sad to have many easily fooled by his rhetoric.
