The only reason Thune and others of the RINO persuasion refuse to nuke the filibuster is to obstruct Trump.
That fact has been exposed by Thune refusing to allow recess appointments, and by those Senators using the asinine, anarchic and absurd Blue Slip crap as their excuse for not confirming hundreds of Trump’s nominees.
Democrat presidents nominees never seemed to face the same stumblingblock but when it comes to Trump suddenly it’s a priority.
I call BS on Blue Slips but mostly on the same old feckless Uniparty Republicans who love their money, power and purported prestige more than this country.
The Republican Senate, and far too, too much of House are this country’s Achilles heel.
I have gone back and forth on this issue, but your insightful writing about the harm the filibuster causes in the House was something I hadn’t thought of before. Abolish the filibuster. Go nuclear Senator Thune.
Trump has screwed up majorly in losing Elise Stefanik and Marjorie Taylor Greene. . . Really, really bad screwup. . . Someone needs to let him know. Personally I do not think I can forgive him. I am really pissed!
I am sick of our government all around - nothing is ever done for the people even though the people (taxpayers) are supposed to have control by the people they elect. I wish we could get rid of the entirety of them and start with real patriots who want to defend this country and not destroy it.
I have discovered very very few people actually donate money to a political candidate or party. Local newspapers have been subsumed into huge left leaning (to the point of falling over) publishers and then dissolved. As a result, very little is known about local candidates. Big money, including teachers’ unions, are funding campaigns to elect Democrats. The average citizen is completely left out of the political process. Now, Axios and huge NGOs are moving their political media activities into local cities. . . .
Maybe ending the filibuster would resolve some issues but creating many new ones. Pity that few will cross party lines anymore despite voter sentiment. But elections are the cure if we can ensure honesty. The fact that media rarely covers the controversy doesn’t help.

Your writing is excellent. I subscribed. Only allowing paid subscribers to comment is interesting. Hopefully it will foster good debate.

May I respectfully observe that elections got us here? And are keeping us here?
