The Top Three Things Elvis Revealed About the Relationship Between Twitter and the FBI
The deposition transcript of the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) assigned to FBI San Francisco, Elvis Chan has been published. Elvis was responsible for coordinating with Twitter, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Reddit, and Wikipedia. He worked with Jim Baker, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Robert Mueller. For background on who Elvis Chan is I recommend reading Julie Kelly’s article titled ‘Elvis Chan: Cyber Conduit Between FBI and Big Tech 8 This FBI agent based in the Silicon Valley and working with social media companies to censor what you see on their platforms has a long history of blocking and tackling for his Democratic bosses.’
The three KEY takeaways from the deposition are:
1. THE FBI AND TWITTER USE SIGNAL TO COMMUNICATE
The FBI communicated with Twitter using Signal, an app that auto-deletes messages preventing them from being saved. The Bureau’s policy requires the FBI to turn off the auto-delete capability of the app, screenshot communication, and burn it to DVD. Elvis Chan admits the FBI stopped saving its communication with Twitter after Elon Musk agreed to buy the company.
2. THE FBI AND TWITTER COMMUNICATED DAILY
Shockingly the FBI communicates with companies like Twitter daily. In fact, the FBI required Twitter to ensure that employees were on standby 24/7 to remove content the FBI identified as ‘misinformation’.
3. THE FBI THREATENED TWITTER
The FBI recommended Twitter add a ‘hacked material’ policy to their terms of service ahead of The New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story. The FBI threatened ‘lowkey’ legal action if Twitter didn’t remove hacked content.
