Alexander, I am in the middle of Data Center fight in Portage County Ohio, and in Ohio itself for that matter. Your article today is EXACTLY what is happening in our community and I want your permission to send this out to residents, perhaps by mail, to try and sway their opinion. How do I get that permission? Tom Zawistowski, Portage County TEA Party, tomz@PortageCountyTEAParty.com

Nearly 90% don't want it in their suburb.

Too many words trying to blame a false Boogeyman - foreign influence.

Shoulda just blamed "criminal illegal aliens" - or the always useful, "radical leftist socialist terrorists."

You sound like an idiot

"Foreign influence" didn't get 86% of the vote.

"The project would have drawn less than 1% of Southern California Edison's projected total demand and would not have touched water rates at all."

You're not denying that electricity rates would increase.

And less that 1% of SCE total demand? SCE covers much of Central and all of Southern California. Like 20-million people at nearly 6-million service addresses. Only 1% of that into a small suburb.

Sounds like they're right to be suspicious, with dishonest, misleading advocates like you.

Peter Henne's avatar

That's because Amuse didn't mention anything about it (electricity and rates; you did).

Their yearly operating budget exceeds $150-million. This would be 4%, not 10% (page T18).

It comes down to the very core of what people were promised… TRANSPARENCY. Maybe if they had explained to the country what they wanted to build, why it was important and how the impact would be felt, good or bad, things might be different. “Informed consent”. Two words that have been touted from the mountain tops.

Instead these ominous structures were placed, people were left wondering what was going on? People were being pressured to sale and eminent domain has been enforced. There are videos of the noise 24/7. There are valid complaints of being right next to neighborhoods. So the issue very much exists.

If we are being given back our country should we not have a voice in how it’s rebuilt? For the locals, it’s not about China or loss of money. It’s about lack of knowledge and protection of our lands, our livelihood and our homes. More importantly, our peace. Transparency and honesty is all the people are looking for. It’s what we promised when this war to save our country started. Epic fail on their part.

Excellent article.

Agree, and the pattern of funding you describe is even more pervasive in corroding American Academia from being the key that unlocked US innovation that propelled our Cultural, Technological and Economic advantage through the 19th and 20th centuries. All fascinating and True as far as you describe, but you don't go far enough. Yes -our geopolitical enemies finance Domestic non-profits to produce their supplies of propaganda. But ultimately, how did this enemy dis-information successfully deliver %82 of voters? The NGOs suppl the poisoned water, but our own MSM is responsible for carrying their water into the homes of these voters

“The developer offered Monterey Park a nearly one acre public park, about 39,900 square feet, at Saturn and Orange, along with new sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, street widening, and pedestrian improvements, all at no cost to the city.”

For further perspective, Monterrey Park is two-thirds Asian immigrants. Chinese is a lingua Franca. It is one fourth Latino. Some English is spoken there.

Garblutt NY will take it.

WNY will take it.

The problem with California is it exists, all that America needs is a secure western flank and California can return to the desert.

Need details on China paying. I don’t doubt they would and probably did.

From the article it seems to be inferred.
