This is a big problem. It’s bad enough judges themselves are twisting and torturing the law to come to their preferred judgment but adding jurors to the mix poisons the entire institution, the actual third branch of our government itself. We are, in that respect, experiencing a Constitutional crisis, where actual law no longer matters, just the political whims of judges and juries themselves.

Just what can be done to remedy this cancer before it devours the Republic is something that needs to urgently be addressed.

Without the rule of law, the very framework holding our Republic together, the whole structure will collapse.

I spent most of my life in front of the jury box. I once succeeded in getting a client, not to mention his codefendants, acquitted by a closing argument that began “Nobody should go to prison based on testimony from witnesses like these.” It was clever…and in that case it was also true. These jury nullification workshops are just another perversion in a growing list of cracks in our legal system that are causing it to crumble before our eyes. Defense lawyers will love them and (real) prosecutors will hate them. Next step…the return of the lynch mob.
