Article 2 authority cannot be limited by resolution of Congress. If this was ever tested by SCOTUS the WPR would be found unconstitutional.

This episode perfectly captures the modern Democratic playbook: lose the vote, then try to change the rules after the fact. President Donald Trump followed the statute precisely—48-hour notification, congressional review, and the statutory clock running exactly as written in the War Powers Resolution of 1973. Congress had its chance to stop the mission and failed. End of story. Instead of accepting the result, Democrats immediately pivoted to impeachment theatrics. But here’s the truth: protecting American forces, defending allies like Israel, and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is exactly what a Commander in Chief is supposed to do. Trump acted decisively—and legally.

Why does anyone vote for a moronic Democrat? The only one I have respect for is Senator Fetterman. Country before party.

I don't think AOC will read Alexander Muse’s essay on the War Powers Act. Maybe because the language is multi-syllabic. The Ds are seriously under educated about the laws they choose to enforce. Examples? Sanctuary laws. "Judicial" review. And now this. I like how he framed and then reframed the legality. But like I said before, I don't think his writing is at her grade level.

But Democrats don't really have an interest in actually studying the laws they swore to uphold, especially not the Constitution. But they are exceptionally good at storytelling.

Is she going to run for President? Are the voting Democrats that easily beguiled? Or is it that they don't believe in law and order?

Yeah. That's probably the correct response.

Silent scorn's avatar

Multi syllabic 😂🤣 it’s also not on TikTok so, no way she could comprehend.

Jamie Ube's avatar

But I don't think she understands one syllable words either. You know, like dense...

Silent scorn's avatar

Well maybe that’s pronounced den s’d? lol. 😝

This article was really really helpful! I'm more prepared to argue and debate with my libtard friends and family ;-)

This military operation does not strike me as a quick response to an emergency. The buildup took weeks.

Trump seems to call many things 'emergencies' in order to accomplish goals. On the other hand, this might be the only way to get things done with Congress so incompetent.

Belling the Cat's avatar

There's no requirement for emergency in the War Powers Act.

skbunny's avatar

The author several times mentioned that a purpose of the War Powers Act was so President's could act quickly in a crisis.

Belling the Cat's avatar

Oh, crisis. You misspelled crisis as 'emergency'. Neither has a limit on time to prepare. I mean, TEOTWAWKI would be an emergency and a crisis, and you couldn't say 'No it wasn't either one, because people have been preparing for it since before Y2K'. Indeed, solid groundwork, preparations, buildup enables quick action and better outcomes when push comes to shove.

As a bonus, weeks of buildup might have altered the Iranian negotiation stance; alas (RIP), it didn't. I guess they were lulled into complacency, having started the war in 1979, but I guess they miscalculated.

Hektor Bleriot's avatar

Congress isn't incompetent (not really, anyway); they ARE indolent, however.

SDN's avatar

In EVERY precedent cited in the article, weeks of buildup took place. The notification required IN THE LAW defines the start time as when the first trigger is pulled.

I am almighty sick and tired of Leftists and NeverTrumpers (BIRM) acting like there's a "Trump Exception Clause" in EVERY legal document and precedent, from the Constitution on down. Every other President and administration could do something; President Trump does it and "BUT TRRRUUUUMMMMMPPPP!!!!!" is heard.

skbunny's avatar

Doesn't this Iran operation seem like an out and out War? Trump throws everything air and naval at them, with huge global ramifications, and it's not a War? So he, one man, individually, without any other countries except compatriot Israel, decides to blow up the Middle East, disrupting global trade worldwide, and all is good? Everyone else just has to sit back for 60 days while one man destroys so much? I rather think Iran had it coming, but one man is close to starting WWIII, and I think that is crazy

Elizabeth Sexworth's avatar

I understand your point at first glance but isn’t that exactly the point of what was just tried in both the House and Senate? All those who voted against the measures are on that one man’s side. So it isn’t one man acting alone. Enough people agreed with Trump in both chambers.

skbunny's avatar

True, good point. We are all in this together.

Belling the Cat's avatar

Well, it's the *War* Powers Act, not the "Things Potus can do up to but definitely not including War" powers act. The mullahs are off the board; IRGC just lost its domestic oil supply & refinery (thus, money); Kharg is about to change hands. It's a high-risk play but solid considering Russia and China angles. In a month Ds will have moved to 10 new outrages and won't even remember being upset about Iran.

CStone's avatar

Skibunny.

Please get off your skis and get caught up.

What do you not understand about the Strait of Hormuz being blocked by Iran? Global trading was ALREADY BLOCKED BY IRAN!

Why does ‘MUH….orange man bad’ color your ability to think for yourself? TDS is real.

skbunny's avatar

My comment was about one man being able to start WWIII all by himself, and that would fit whichever President it was. The Strait of Hormuz was open and now there is huge oil disruptions which will affect whole globe.

Typical Democrat response to any issue Trump addresses. Dems only bitch, whine, lie, and resort to impeachment when all else fails, including their votes and power. Impeachment has no grounds and the Democrats know this. Democrats are only screaming this for their base. This is another reason why Democrats cannot ever be in power again. Dems are fools and ignorant, along with their radical base an extreme violent deterrent to our country’s future.

CStone's avatar

Actually the demonicRATS are evil. Evil makes them stupid, yes. But first and foremost they are truly evil.

They never build, but destroy.

They are the party of the KKK, Jim Crow Laws, murder of the most vulnerable-the unborn, sexual mutilation, sex groomers.

Everything they stand for is destructive to individuals and our nation as a whole.

Ruth H's avatar

All very true. Truly evil and only care about greed, power, control.

#Troll4Truth's avatar

I really don't think any of the Dems read or comprehends the War Power Act.

I, also, am of the firm belief AOC wrote Kamala Harris' recent statement about Venezuela.

They would be much better served if they only let their more intelligent party members make Public Statements.

CStone's avatar

I’m with Senator Kennedy “Let her speak.” She reminds us of just how stupid they really are.

Trump is not going to do anything the wrong way. Of course he notified Congress on time. AOL could be a Somali. I suspect her IQ is not over 67.

Excellent analysis of the crazy Demonrats. Great explanation of our War Powers Act. I have a better understanding of the whole situation. I believe in Trump and his plan!!! MAGA 🇺🇸

Michelle Dostie's avatar

I likewise have better understanding, however, have heard repeatedly the the War Powers Act has not been employed since WWII.

Melanie Pflasterer's avatar

FUCK THE DEMONRATS!!!! JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T GET THEIR WAY!! THEY WANT IMPEACHMENT!! FKN IDIOTS!!! VOTE RED ❤️!!

Trump is the disappointer in chief. Going back on your words and campaign rhetoric is a standard operation procedure in the how to be a politician manual. He's just another neocon swamp dweller. The Bush family along with Dick Cheney must be so very proud of Donald. I'm disgusted with the DC idiocy.

Silent scorn's avatar

Recommend you read the substack Coffee and Covid by Jeff Childers this morning. It is very illuminating on what is actually happening over there in the fog of war and the planning behind it. It did make me think twice about my criticism.

Pit's avatar

I read it and it didn’t sway me much. Trump and his administration lost my trust. No wars mean no wars. No nation building means no nation building. Fix and help Americans not shithole Israel.

CStone's avatar

TDS……you got it. Seek treatment.

Pit's avatar

Three-time Trump voter Stoner. I think the word you're looking for is regret. I could swear Trump made many comments against getting us into wars and nation building. Piss off.

Dick Cheney was only good with bullets when they were making money for him. KBR, an offshot of Halliburton, made billions and directed contracts.

Good for warmongers and greedy money hoarders but not for We the People. I wonder how hot hell is where Cheney resides these days.
