This is exactly the plan of the radical left when they take back control of the US govt

Pelopidas's avatar

Of course it is. Know that it’s already here in certain forms and that Trump is fighting to roll it back. He terms it “draining the swamp”, others call it “deconstructing the administrative state”. The fight is real and it is now.

It won't be that nice.

Spare us your anemic EU bashing, and your hypocritical rhetoric about the Constitution, while you simp every day for your wannabe king and his craven enablers.

Katherine Blair's avatar

Oh, fuck you. Sorry, that was my first thought and it felt right in this case. There is a great deal to bash about the EU, and I don't think anyone is being anemic about it. The EU is a joke. They are going to do this and do that, but where will the money come from? We have states with more GDP!

This was predictable. The EU was supposed to be an economic union. But give a bureaucrat an inch and they will take it all. Like they say, "You f'd up. You trusted us"

Some smart freedom loving person in the EU government machinery should immediately begin surveillance on all the communications of every commissioner, administrator, politician, and bureaucrat involved in the passage of this bill, then “leak” to the press the most embarrassing and incriminating snippets. See how fast they change their tune.

USA is a Representative Republic. Perhaps nations should emulate the USA rather than England.

Just saying at the end of the day it is what it is

Just reminding you the UK voted to leave the EU 10 years ago, largely because of the issues raised in this article.

Please don't associate us with the EU

Suzie's avatar

And how’s that been working out for you? Your political class has done as little as possible to make that a reality, even now signaling they want back in. They just recently surrendered Gibraltar back to the EU overlords. Inch by inch they’re going back, if they ever truly left at all. Smoke and mirrors.

Oh good! Here in Canada our illustrious Prime Minister seems to want to join the EU - he's going to show that bastage Trump that we can't be pushed around. What a train wreck!

Frank Norman's avatar

Well that's probably a little bit better than joining Communist China, which was what a lot of people thought was the goal there...

Excellent article

I hope your American readers will now have a better understanding of why the UK voted to leave the EU.

Basically, it is deliberately designed to avoid the inconvenience of democracy.

Socialism by sleight of hand

Americans were for Brexit! At least conservatives were.

Similar machination are happening with FISA 702 in the US. No extension was approved by Congress but the data is still being collected

Europeans have been allowing their political system to deteriorate to such a point that they are, once again, under the control of the elite class and are being treated as simple peasants! Americans are FIGHTING elites every step of the way as we did 250 years ago!

This isn't democracy, it's communism voted in by the system it's supposed to protect.

When the citizens have no say, but a small group of unelected people do, it's communism.

Dave FAGIN's avatar

And in Canada our idiot liberals are trying to join the EU, God help us!

Suzie's avatar

The EU is the textbook definition of an authoritarian government. A cabal of unelected, and in many cases, unknown bureaucrats deciding how everyone else must live, with absolutely no say by, from or of the people who live under their thumb.

The nation states of Europe who surrendered their sovereignty to this cabal deserve everything they get- or get taken away from it.

In a sane world, there’d be a mass exodus from living under such a dictatorship, but no sign of that happening anytime soon. Even Great Britain, where the people even voted overwhelming to Leave, have been buffaloed by their own grifting political class, now inching toward rejoining. You can’t fix stupid, especially when there’s a lot of money to be had.

We are witnessing our future. First colonization; destruction of our culture; heritage; history. Replacement by the failures of this nation and the importation of those that hate what we stand for. A system that denies the people freedom to choose. One size fits own. Meritocracy is destined to die so parasites may flourish.

I just posted about our trip to Switzerland and witnessing the edges rotting over there. Switzerland is another country that voted out of the EU, in my opinion, for currency and banking reasons. Europe doesn't know how to be democratic. They simply would rather have someone tell them what to do. And the bureaucrats comply.
