David Sacks has been spot on all year. The IPO has to be cancelled. Otherwise, can it have a risk factor that company executives believe there is a 10%+ chance everyone gets killed within 10 years? No joke. This is Al Gore on steroids. Dario is the incumbent, he is arrogant and wants regulation to stop open source competition that commoditize the LLM sector. They are horrified by Jensen’s entry into the LLM space. If they believe what they won’t disavow, there is zero chance this thing is worth even $500 billion given the liability it represents.
Jacob Coxon is a fraud. The whole thing was a set up. He needs to be investigated. It is incredible the company has not vigorously disavowed. They agree with the statement, publicly, and executives are likely in on the fraud. The board needs to fire Dario. He is not up to the task of running a public company and is exhibit A if anyone sued Anthropic for injury. Incredibly stupid and arrogant.
I am not concerned about "human extinction" from AI or anything else not caused by God's implementation of His plan as described in the Bible, which is to say, a series of global catastrophes including famine, pestilence and war, all of which takes place after He removes His believing church from the wrath to come and allows the anti-Christ to reveal himself. Inasmuch as I am well into my eighth decade of life, my personal departure from the land of the living is more likely to occur before His return, but either way, I'm prepared for it, and strongly urge everyone else to do likewise. The decision is, of course, a personal one but the consequences of choosing poorly are eternal. Choose wisely, my friends, and soon.
I recall when Marc Andreessen, an early funder of AI startups, was on Joe Rogan, where he described a May 2024 White House lunch where Biden officials laid out what he called a plan for "full government control" of AI — that only "a small number of large companies", maybe 2 or 3, would be permitted, and fully regulated by the government. He quoted them as saying: "Don't even start start-ups. Don't even bother. There's no way they can succeed."
He was so taken aback by that he says that’s when he said he would vote for Trump.
I am not a big fan of AI and in spite of all its glorious promises I actually believe the world would be better off if it never existed. I’m not a Luddite, but technology is double edged sword, and AI potentially wields a sword I simply don’t think mankind is responsible enough to handle, human nature being what it is.
But here it is and we while we do need to get a handle on it, the very LAST people I want making those determinations is our government.
We should create an AI Constitution designed to incorporate ethical and moral guardrails into AI construction, and perhaps establish an AI Council comprised of both tech savvy and people from diverse backgrounds such as business, religion and law or some such to oversee AI development in accordance with the AI Constitution and litigate disputes or new advancements or discoveries.
I don’t know - just thinking out loud here, because right now most of the people behind many of these major AI creations like OpenAI, Anthropic, etc. do not give me the warm fuzzies at all.
Here’s an interesting (long) article on what an AI Constitution would require:
The frontier labs already control the pace of their own model releases, now they want a Federal agency to control everyone else's releases. Classic regulatory capture.
Thanks for a summary of this X post that obviously had legs before he posted. Anthropic is trying to command the A1 revolution and this is scary. Their attitude towards their product and DOD/DOW cannot be ignored. IMHO we do not need government controlling A1 with the likes of a similar Biden/Harris administration ever in power again. Guardrails are needed, but not from the minds of politicians who are easily manipulated.

Amen. Thanks for this comment.
