I have never heard this story before…it’s a doozy! Thanks for posting this…I’ll read anything you write, emus included!

Why no one thought of Emu husbandry? They just needed a well promoted book describing delicious Emu egg delicacies and some tasty roasted Emu recipes. And, of course, Emu skin boots and jackets modeled by all the right people. The farmers would have been setting out food and water for the birds, trapping them, breeding and raising them. By now we’d have huge fat docile Emus that would be almost unrecognizable to their wild cousins. 😂

Wonderful story, thanks for sharing.

This isn’t just about the misplaced application of government force, is it?

“The farmers would house and feed the soldiers. Western Australia would cover transport. The Commonwealth would provide firepower.”

It’s interesting that the 3rd amendment to the Constitution prevents the quartering of troops during peacetime.

It’s also interesting that Australia didn’t acquire the right to pass its own laws until 1986.

Well done, and a much needed distraction from the often sordid but necessary world of politics and policy (and rogue judges who should be disbarred...).

Much thanks for your compelling writing style and the insights provided. I will most assuredly remain a subscriber. Merry Christmas!

Reality wins, eventually.

But a lot of damage can be done in the battle.

Great telling of a forgotten history!

The AI illustration shows some "Friendly Fire", lol - I have my own versions of that!

Merry Christmas!

Saw that immediately Doug. My thought was no wonder the humans lost the battle.

Reminds me of more than one battle described in the Bible where God confuses the enemy of Israel and they killed each other out of confusion.
