In engineering finding females and minorities are quite difficult. In my hiring decisions if I ever rejected one of that class I had to document in great detail. Some females have a hard time meshing in but can be valuable in certain design considerations. Hispanic minorities adapt seamlessly but some blacks carry a chip and can be difficult to manage Asian engineers are usually great performers.
The point to my comment was really if I rejected any of the desired class. I had to be careful to avoid HR coming unglued.
At least in engineering bias against the young white man doesn’t exist given the graduation pipeline for hires.
Sorry, but I am not buying it. I was employed in H.R. when Obama started his reporting requirements for hiring and diversity. A whole genre of H.R. and IT professionals arose at significant cost to comply with the mandates if you did any contracting with government projects. It forced attention on what remained of discrimination in employment. I hated it, but it wasn’t a bad thing.
What is going on at Universities is disgusting. The faculties have lost their motivation, if they ever had any. What I see is a bunch of over paid grifters. Life has been made too easy for them. So many of the professors can and will be replaced eventually by AI.
Too many two working parents have made going to college the goal for their children even though the kids go off to college with no idea what they want to do with their life. So, we have boosted universities, their faculty and their costs, adding on garbage degrees to take up the slack. College has become the fun four years for coddled kids.
Child bearing is documented to be associated with poverty. PERIOD.
Why did you neglect the obvious? Obama was president and determined to "transform" our country. I can't wait for karma to catch up to him for the damage he did.
One of my kids is a victim of discrimination against white men. He’s looking for a full time blue collar job in SoCal and hasn’t been able to find a job. He’s not Hispanic.
Outstanding analysis of the pipeline mechanic. The argumnet about institutions reshaping entry points rather than removing incumbents is kinda underappreciated in this whole debate. I saw something similar play out in tech recruiting around 2017-2019, where diversity targets got operationalized at the junior level while senior management demographics barely shifted. The downstream marriage market effect is especially compelling since stable employment has always been foundational to family formation economics.
We've all heard anecdotes, now we have aggregates that can't be disputed. Savage brought statistics from the job market, but the problem goes one step back to the elite universities that have actively shunned white and Asian applicants.
Meritocracy was the original goal, and DEI policies were supposed to widen the net and bring in a larger pool of qualified candidates for every role. Instead, we got lower standards.
The woke agenda has failed, and it has failed competent young white men worst of all.

The actual “allowance” that this could ever occur...is at the heart of the matter. It was targeted and that FACT cannot EVER be disputed.
