Unfortunately it appears another person deleted their response when I provided multiple links of evidence disproving this whole article. Here's the links again. Decades of studies show political violence is by far a right wing phenomenon. This whole article is not supported.

Apparently, there is a playbook for the creation of “Permission Structures” to achieve “political” ends first effectively employed by David Axelrod in aid of Obama. I read about it on Substack and will see if I can resurrect and share it here.

Why are the calls to arms of Carville, Schumer, and Jeffries not considered death threats ?

According to Democrats and leftists, "words are violence." If that's true, then what is "violence?"

Howard Carter's avatar

The DemocRATs are the Evil Party, the party of hypocrisy and villainy. They’re the #PartyOfLies, the #PartyOfDeath, the #PartyOfHate, the #PartyOfSatan. They are the Party of Misery and Pain, the Party of Weak Men and Unsatisfied Women, the Party of Perverts and Pedophiles. The twin pillars of the party are Prevarication and Projection.

The Republican party got it's start as the party of violence and most of the problems we have in the US today are due to the Republican party.

So hard to find good help these days, as we can see college isn’t competence.

Where are they getting these assassins? LinkedIn?

One clear path after another and they fumble at the goal line.

Passive Sheep Cowardice has a party affiliation in America and it’s not Democratic.

The doors at the Capitol were designed to prevent people from breaking in. They were unlocked from inside. If you watched any of the videos, the Capitol police invited people in and escorted them through the building.

What is interesting is that we ALL know where the freedom of speech red line is. We all know the difference between criticism and threat. And we should be able to stop this without endangering free speech because it is literally a no brainer. Rant against ideas and policy all you want, but threaten physical harm and you need to feel the cold weight of total isolation from any public platform UNTIL reformed! And adult time out, if you will.

Dawn Pegis's avatar

“Threaten physical harm” indeed a red line standard/ prohibition.

Leroy Jenkins's avatar

Unless you are a government employee. They threaten us, the citizens on an hourly basis. Every law is basis upon the threat of "Do what I say or I will send men with guns to kill you.". Which is fine when you are talking about rape or murder, but most laws should be repealed as none of the government's business.

Dawn Pegis's avatar

I definitely felt intimidated by an employer in 2016, but not to the level of an actionable ‘threat.’ Church where I worked just objected to a post criticizing an ‘official’. I didn’t even mean to share the ‘heading’ picture with criticism. I intended to share quotes IN the article from our Founders! (Warning of the incompatibilities of Islam) I deleted it about 45 minutes later. Then, I changed churches within months!

This is why I left Portland. They don't just dislike me, they want me dead. When people tell you who they are, believe them.

the long warred's avatar

Yes. Portland will move to Asheville NC, Texas, Florida and everywhere else. What then?

Sea Sentry's avatar

Asheville NC is kind of a mini-Portland already.

The first thing built should be walls, like Afghanistan and other places. Then build the houses.

And be heartened by the fact that you could walk coast to coast through red counties.

Excellent analysis. I may post it on my dusty and unused facebook account as a final finale. The comment before mine is ridiculous, and not an appropriate response to your article. Where did all the decent teachers go? Who poisoned our faculties? It will take decades to root out this cancer in the educational system. And it’s all over the western world.

Notsothoreau's avatar

You might consider what happened to members of the Weather Underground. They got college teaching jobs, including members that had been in jail

Barbara Lee's avatar

Start fining anyone, but especially politicians, who cross the red lines of freedom of speech. Huge fines given to their victims. Second offense, kick off their committees. Third offense, send them home for three months, and so forth until their lips seal themselves or they are bankrupt and out of public service.

Jan 6th and decades of political violence studies disprove this entire article

Notsothoreau's avatar

So two unarmed conservative women is your idea of political violence? They were invited in.

Ruth H's avatar

Oh my, that’s the worse example you can use. Jan 6 was a Democrat witch hunt with paid antifa activists in the crowd, FBI informants and FBI agents, refusal by Pelosi to call the National Guard, fake bomb scares, arrests and prosecutions by crooked Biden’s DOJ of peaceful protesters who many just walked through the Capitol after Cap Police opened the doors. Stop spreading Dems big lies about Jan 6.

Gary Haig's avatar

Actually, Jan 6 is just one of the staged fraud false flag conspiracies hatched by Democrat leadership and fake news that convinces the brainwashed Left of its false Narrative about the “violent” Right.

Tami Johnson's avatar

Jan 6th was a Fedsurrection set up by the LEFT and the only violence comes from ONE PARTY; The DemonRats

I responded to Silent scorn when asked for receipts. The record is clear.

Please reread this part of the article:

The asymmetry is the finding. Permissiveness toward political violence in 2025 and 2026 is not symmetric across the ideological spectrum. It is concentrated on the left, and it is most concentrated among the young left and in particular those with advanced degrees, which is to say, in the demographic that consumes the largest volume of the rhetoric described above.

The pattern is not new, and it is not confined to Trump. In June 2017, James Hodgkinson, a devoted Bernie Sanders volunteer, opened fire on a Republican congressional baseball practice and nearly killed House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. Hodgkinson had marinated for years in Senator Sanders’s own framing of Republicans as authoritarians, dictators in waiting, agents of oligarchy, enemies of democracy, and threats to working families. In June 2022, Nicholas Roske traveled across the country with a firearm, knife, and burglary tools to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home, an act that followed Senator Chuck Schumer’s open warning on the steps of the Supreme Court that Kavanaugh had “unleashed the whirlwind” and would “pay the price.” Chief Justice John Roberts rebuked Schumer publicly and explained the obvious risk. Roske made the risk literal. In November 2017, Senator Rand Paul was tackled from behind by his neighbor René Boucher and suffered multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung. In July 2022, David Jakubonis attempted to stab Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin on stage with an improvised weapon. John Cameron Denton, a man with no shortage of his own pathologies, made a credible assassination threat against Representative Paul Gosar, acquired a firearm, and assembled travel plans before his arrest. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has been the target of repeated swatting attempts and arrests involving threats with firearms and explosives. Of course most us watched as Charlie Kirk was gunned down on a college campus by Tyler Robinson.

The years the article refers to are 2017 to the present. All three of your links go back 40 years and are not relevant to what the author was referring to.

Malik Graves-Pryor's avatar

It is 100% germane. This article is trying to make it seem like political violence is some new thing. It isn't. I made a claim about decades of political violence. You asked for receipts.

I provided them up through this year. Not focused on a single year but decades.

You asked, I provided. What else would you like?

Silent scorn's avatar

Nothing. The article is summarizing the rise in leftist political violence in the last decade. Not decades.

Malik Graves-Pryor's avatar

Convenient but still incorrect. According to all studies, the first time left wing incidents outnumbered right wing incidents was 2025 in volume. Yet when factoring actual death and violence, right wing is STILL higher.

So you can't even hang your hat on that. 🤷🏾‍♂️
