The food stamp scam has been going on for so long. Over ten years ago I remember a co-worker being excited because "today is food stamp day". It meant that a person receiving food stamps would sell them to him at a lower cost, for cash. There would be so many easy ways to check the validity of why someone is receiving them, and stop it, but the never-ending flow of taxpayer cash makes it easy to ignore the grift.
At issue that we can’t afford all these people within the current system. Quite agree reform is needed. Brings home the quotation about people voting themselves the treasury which is empty now.
I have a friend who is 71 years old, can't work, and lives on Social Security at approximately $1200/month. Rent and utilities are about $1000/month. She depends on SNAP to provide enough food for the month. She's panicking about the cessation of her benefits. What will happen to her if SNAP stops?
I would hope John, that you would step up and provide for your friend. Government was never envisioned to be cradle to grave caretaker and provider. Family and church should be in that role, family because it's the right thing to do and church because it's Biblical to care for the widow orphan and injured.
There's a similar dynamic in play for Obamacare. Illegal aliens are officially not allowed, but they usually try to ignore that Medicare is in reality part of it.
Again, it comes down to our illustrious Republican Congress to address this plundering of taxpayer dollars - which they’ve known about all along. What are the chances of that happening? I’m not optimistic.
I agree. We have no choice at this point. The Dems have declared war and we have no hope of turning the tide and gaining the Comgressional seats we need to change the social contract, and fix the broken election system

Worth a worry. Many states have decided to step in. Food banks can help if available.
