Great explanation of the congressional process where most do not understand the nuance.

But his daddy stammered last week that he won’t vote for it🥴

YA BUT…

Positive things said in The State of The Union Address.

However major issues I addressed to acquire a free state went ignored…

Good explanation of what is happening with SAVE. I don't trust Thune to do the right thing,

Elizabeth Sexworth's avatar

Thank you for this explanation. For so long we’ve been told we don’t understand or that there are procedures that must be followed. And then they do what they want, when they want behind closed doors. We want to be heard and we want to have transparency.

Can it be reasonably said that the current distrust of elections stems from Trump himself. He started claiming months before the 2020 election that he couldn't lose unless there was voter fraud. And lo and behold, he lost, which was impossible in his and his followers minds because Trump had poisoned the well. A constant drumbeat of fraud, fraud and as far as I can tell, no evidence. Where is this evidence? So, to counter this non-existent problem, voting has to become a lot more complicated for millions of actual citizens. Why is that desirable?

Candis's avatar

Evidence everywhere. Have you been under your bed since covid.

Candis's avatar

If you haven't caught on by now, there's really no hope. You should probably get in asap for your next round of boosters. The sooner the better!

skbunny's avatar

I've asked a number of different posters in various threads for evidence, and none have come back with any. That seems to indicate it is all a fever dream.

Candis's avatar

Hun, we already know your shtick. You're a waste of time here. If you really wanted “evidence”, you can easily research it online. But that's not what you want, and we know it. Now run off and get those boosters!

skbunny's avatar

Sorry, I have also looked for evidence of voting fraud and find none. So again, just where is this evidence that is so easily found?

skbunny's avatar

I have researched online and looked for evidence and it ALL shows that voting by illegal immigrants is rare.

John W's avatar

You clearly are not paying attention to what's being revealed in GA, PA, WI, AZ.

skbunny's avatar

It took five years to find? AZ had numerous recounts, including by the infamous Cyber Ninja's and nothing was found.

SDN's avatar

If 20000 invalid ballots are allowed into the stream, the entire result is tainted. Fulton County.

If ballots are deliberately not supplied (AZ, and proven), that result is tainted.

Running invalid pieces of paper doesn't matter.

80% of the country want this bill passed. It needs worked on to get rid of mail in ballots. Freeloader, er Leader Thune ought to be ashamed of himself as well as embarrassed if this fails. My money says a watered down bill passes and not effective until after the midstream’s. I don’t have any faith in Republicrats.

John W's avatar

This is all good news and impressive movement by the House, and I hope it gets passed before midterms, but ....

I'm afraid that the SAVE act over focuses on illegals voting (they shouldn't) but overlooks the much greater problem. Mailing out ballots to questionable addresses to people who did not even request them, died, moved out of area, etc is a far greater problem. We must get back to an election DAY with absentee ballots upon request. Joe Biden's 81 million votes did not come from illegals.

Susan Daniels's avatar

Joe Biden didn't get 81 million votes.

Candis's avatar

And we all know it.

John W's avatar

You can have your own opinions but not your own facts.

SDN's avatar

You and Stalin would get along. Invented counts that disappear in 4 years.

sandy picard's avatar

The SAVE act does outlaw mail-in ballots. Only Absentee Ballots by individual application for elderly/shutins, those in the military or those temporarily out of town are authorized.

Yoel Yonan's avatar

if they do not pass the save act, it sows the seeds of civil war

Suzie's avatar

Just the fact that Thine is so resistant to getting this Bill through is so astonishing. 80% of Americans - not just Republicans - ALL Americans want this Bill.

Maybe we need to bring back torches and pitchforks to get these guys to actually to DO something!

skbunny's avatar

70% and more of Americans want abortion in the first trimester. I guess Congress should pass that next.

Silent scorn's avatar

Would you have them take that power from the states? Not a good precedent.

skbunny's avatar

I think it is ridiculous for such an important decision as to how many babies to have, to be left to the States. How would you like it if States decided to not allow bypass surgery, or cataract surgery, or any other healthcare procedure, just because the hyper-religious decided it wasn't in God's will?

Spineless chickenshit republicans never been in a schoolyard fight. Democrats are now communists and they're not hiding that fact. This nation is a dying man sinking barely treading water and gulping water and the assholes in the GOP stare and do nothing. RIP America 1776-2026.

Suzie's avatar

I’d LIKE your post but I simply refuse to accept the defeat of this country. Yet, anyway.

We need to vote Republican- even for the Thune’s among them in these midterms, because it’s our absolute and only chance to remain in the fight to help this President to right the ship. And not even the Thunes can prevent We the People from making sure we stay in the fight for the long haul.

Pit's avatar

I have been a conservative independent for 50 years never joining either party. I do vote for republicans pinching my nose only because they are the lesser of two evils but that has changed. I hold both parties in contempt for various reason but mostly they represent the world of commerce and banks not the American people. If the GOP doesn’t fight for their own constituents, then someone else somewhere owns them and their votes. My conscience and principles outweigh all their policies and talking points. I want my grown son and his teenage children to live in the America of my youth. That is going to fade away because both parties have failed us all.

Susan Daniels's avatar

It is already gone and never coming back.

Pit's avatar

A friend of mine who came to live in the USA from New Zealand says the same thing. It happened in NZ and he sees the same patterns emerging here in the states.

Ken France's avatar

I do agree. Republicans lose both houses and Trump is impeached.

Sen Thune needs to grow a spine and lead. This bill deserves debate. This bill needs passed before the midterms. We the people demand it when 80% are in favor. Sen Thune needs to act now; after the midterms he may not have a chance. If delay is his way of leading, then he needs to step aside and a new majority leader needs appointed. If Senator Thune, thinks his inaction is okey by anyone, he is sorely wrong. Do your job!!

Dawn Pegis's avatar

I love and so appreciate how plainly A. Muse expounds and explains this bill, this issue and the essential importance of allowing open debate with, ultimately, a vote. Will you, Sen Thune, DO YOUR job in the statesman’s manner!!! America awaits!!
