Part of the problem - emphasis on the word “part” - is that Congress goes about setting up all these programs, like HB1, Medicaid, etc. etc. etc., and set up ZERO oversight on any of them, just go about reauthorizing and refunding them, year after year after year, allowing them to run amuck and become infested with fraud, waste and abuse.
I would bet you we would not be in such serious debt if there were any kind of stringent and strict oversight attached to these multitudinous programs that are shoveling billions, if not trillions of our taxpayer money into sewer of criminality.
H1-B is nothing but below-market indentured servitude for Big Tech. Either shut it down completely or force H1-B minimum salary to top decile for industry years experience (allow industry to pay up for superstar talent).
When I lost my South Florida computer company in 2002. It failed because all of my 19 subcontractors went out of business within six months. We served small businesses with 25 workstations and two servers, max. I had a cross-referral set up with a larger company that took my referrals that were larger than I wanted. They sent me small jobs that they didn't want. They went out of business, too.
I had no idea what was going on, just that they all were suddenly being beat out in the market. After the Disney H1-B scandal broke a few years later, I figured it out. The large company that we were undercutting in the smaller business market had brought in H-1Bs, cut their prices, and crushed us all.
The H-1B program is flat out evil. It's anti-American.
The only temporary government programs involve materials (see Pentagon Valley of Death research to cancellation wheel, the cycle is permanent in a way) but never, ever people who can vote or pay and India does both. Job candidates are competing with governments, the worst case is India.
This is so messed up - why do our politicians continually 💩on the American citizens and taxpayers? Why do we continue to allow the corruption and when will something be done about it?

When was the last time Congress did something to benefit the American public?
Not in my lifetime.
My oldest grandson is very angry because of this program.
Destroy education. Suppress wages. Replace culture. Import new voters.

It truly is messed up, but there are conservative politicians who put American workers first.
