Whether it's war waste in iran or afghanistan or giving the 🪝👃ukrainian grifter another 40 billion for vacations and supercars, the American Taxnigger is always the one with his wallet open.
I'm not the least bit surprised. I've figured for the past year and a half, since the crazy Oval Orifice "argument" between the Comedian-in-Chief and the Trump-Vance Rubio meme couch there's been mostly silence from all parties. Somebody's cashing out. Probably everybody... except me and I'm not sure about you.
There's a fair amount of good we get out of the Ukraine grift, notwithstanding, viz. the meat grinder of Russian military might (such as it is) and then the Masters of War on all sides, including ours. It keeps Vlad busy in his dotage, not that he can't still multitask.
It's a lot of money, but it shouldn't be a surprise, especially when you know pretty much all this BS started with the Obama-Biden kleptocrats. Like the article pointed out, what's still flowing is mostly already on the books as spent, and was before DJT returned to office.
As you have well explained it, money being sent to Ukraine was already earmarked (maybe before Trump’s second term). Meaning, sending it doesn’t require any new congressional action. Trump could perhaps try to stop it by executive order, but that would be probably be challenged by a Democrat judge.
Oh, it certainly would be, since the 1974 SCOTUS ruling disallowing impoundment is still in place. Right now, the law is "If Congress appropriates money specifically for Ukraine, the President must spend it that way."
Thank you for reporting this truth. I might have missed it, but at the same time we're replacing/expending massive dollars to execute the Iran chastisements as well as replacing "outdated armaments" we've provided to Ukraine? Wasn't that what the military said, while we allowed Europe to purchase those old socks in our military warehouses? My head is spinning around and around. No wonder Lindsay Graham is smiling all the time! So it might be said that MAGA supports the military/industrial complex aggressively? Don't get me wrong, I think eliminating the "cuckoo for cocoa puffs” theocracy in Iran is a very good thing. I've spent most of my adult life watching those nutjobs dress the Middle East in blood over their lusty theology, while killing our soldiers defending tribal States that don't like us very much. But then I lean back in my chair and think about how much the American people have sacrificed, tax season is a typical time to think of that, in $$ and the loss of sons and daughters.
One thing I find particularly ironic? If the pandemic was supposed to kill off the poor, but policies are such that they really meant the Middle Class, who's going to pay for all this warring? The rich?
So when optics are such that world leaders are willing to gloss over the realities of Ukraine spending even though Americans aren't so pro-Ukranian anymore? Are we really unwilling to claw those $$ back? I don't know, $2B+ per month until 2028 still sounds like a lot of money to me!
Especially on top of all the entitlements "fraud"... doesn't the Ukraine spending qualify as fraud, too?
Here are the facts about it: It’s not Trump sending it, but Biden made sure there is still something to be sent to Ukraine. Also it didn’t go to Ukraine but to US defense contractors that made new gear for US military. US military send old gear they had to dispose anyway. So the worth of what was sent was even substantially lower and spending would have happened anyway (for US military). https://x.com/i/grok?conversation=2042925561677320535
The President said we were SELLING arms to the Europeans, who were giving them to Ukraine. Are these the arms you're talking about? And are the dollar amounts Muse describes in addition to this?
The most maddening thing about Europe’s purchases of LNG from Russia is that Biden closed down export of US LNG. We are still playing catch-up for this idiotic decision. Building infrastructure for LNG exports takes time. Support of Ukraine is as uncomfortable as removing sanctions on Russian oil. It is uncomfortable but necessary. Trump’s goal is to repair the damage democrats and EU socialists have invented to weaken American economic growth. They both hate capitalism.
So, further proof that Trump is not a king? He has no power to stop these funds, I guess, but it suits the fascist dictator narrative to keep this story silent, doesn’t it? That is, unless he also wants to keep the pipeline flowing?
No! I’m so angry about this! Thank you so much for writing this! Literally had no idea. I guess it would take congress to undo it but it’s probably being money laundered back to them! My thoughts on Ukraine are that it’s a very corrupt government as Zelenskyy is a great opportunist pocketing this money although his pockets have GOT to be full. This war needs to end. Ugh. 😣
Putin isn’t opportunistic? Biden’s corruption allowed Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. There are so many layers to the story that we are forced to do some things to buy time. There isn’t an American out there excitedly hoping to pay more taxes so it can send money to Ukraine. The Ukraine is the breadbasket of Europe. For Russia to own it would be even greater world instability.
But that wasn't the point of the article. The point was that taxpayers don't realize where their money is going. It's swept under the rug. This is a repeated pattern throughout different administrations. People should be outraged at the way our pockets are picked and how that money is spent.
So your point is Americans are stupid? Contracts and agreements don’t automatically dissolve because a new president is elected or we wouldn’t be asking if it is possible for Trump to dump NATO.
The point brought up in the article is that Americans are largely unaware because it isn't talked about. It's politically inconvenient. And the article already made the point that contracts have been executed and money is allocated for future expenditures. I didn't say anything about people being stupid. Maybe try reading what I actually wrote instead of looking to pick a fight over something I never wrote.
Ai is a tool accessible to all. People can ask and verify what they find. The least reported story is that China is helping Russia target Ukraine as the EU doles out billions to Russia. The story is available.
People can ask, if they are techie types who regularly use such tools. But AI is most definitely biased and often incorrect in results. GIGO - Garbage In Garbage Out. And you assume a lot, like that people know what to ask. So it isn't some great equalizer or even a repository or factual information. Most people are too busy with day to day life to get into the weeds with technology to find answers to questions they don't even know to ask. But this is all quite off the topic at hand and is an exercise in hypotheticals. If you are looking for someone to argue with look elsewhere.

In Trump’s way of thinking,
he thinks it keeps pressure on Putin.
And Trump loves using pressure in negotiations.
He is from NYC.
Ask the Iranian regime.
Was not aware of this. Our Congress does not represent us. We should all swamp our Reps with email about this. It does get their attention.

Graham’s another Neocon MICC fan. He’s the opposite of the Maga type.
Actually, a better title for this article is “Biden is STILL sending dollars to Ukraine,” isn't it?

Wow. Great reporting. This totally goes against the mainstream media narrative.
Seems a little unfair to hang this around Trump’s neck, doesn’t it, when our feckless Congress did it?

Bravo! Another amuse factual, well documented, explicit ACCOUNT that belies the Left's narrative.

I concur with your assessment
