If broadcasters use public airwaves to censor a sitting president’s evidence-backed address while hiding the legislative remedy from voters, the executive should fight back hard — lawfully, publicly, and without apology. Review FCC licenses. Investigate viewpoint discrimination where federal privileges are involved. Fine violations where statutes and regulations allow it. Expose coordination between politicians and networks. Demand equal-time scrutiny, public-interest review, and congressional hearings. Nobody has a constitutional right to a government-granted broadcast license while operating like a partisan blackout machine. The First Amendment protects speech. It does not require the public to subsidize cartel censorship by corporations using public spectrum for private political control. Trump released the receipts. The networks cut the feed. That tells America exactly why the SAVE Act — and media accountability — must move together.

??There’s no such statute or precedent for SOTU to be published except by POTUS to Congress . ??

The broadcast businesses should be required to pay $$ for the airwaves. They should also be broken up by antitrust into many small regional and local media. They are a dangerous concentration of influence. Finally what was put out was at least as important as a declaration of war.

…and these networks are whores for a foreign power that bought them, as is their preferred party.

It’s the reason why conservative media dominates especially on radio. There is no such thing as “the liberal media” in any real sense of the word compared to the size and reach of right wing media

"Congress must pass the SAVE America Act. How easy is that to do? Unless you want to cheat." When President Trump said this last night, he nailed the whole boondoggle about not passing the SAVE Act. And those in the Senate know he was talking directly to them.

Jack Sotallaro's avatar

By not carrying the President's speech, NBC and ABC lose their right to say they're operating in the public interest, and should have their broadcast licenses revoked. When an organization that is supposed to be neutral (we know they're not, but we ignore the lie) makes a partisan decision like refusing to carry the President's speech they are declaring their political preference.

Get rid of them.

Michael Woods's avatar

We agree on election integrity being a non partisan issue. Let’s move forward on that basis. The Democratic Party will do what it does, and the consequences will be revealed over time.

Exactly. They need to be held accountable same as we the people are… Great example, no talking about politics especially voting for whomever, within the workplace…

So the networks get to decide what is truth? Can you be more naive? The networks lean left, proven fact. They have a duty to broadcast news. You didn't complain when they broadcast Obama telling you you could keep your doctor or Clinton claiming to not have had sex with that woman. You only see it from one side.

Rich's avatar

That's all you guys ever say. Maybe be specific about his lies.. what about other left wing politicians lies. You never call them out?

More importantly, they SHOULD AIR his press conferences and speeches, then they can follow up with a broadcast to point out these alleged lies.

But not airing him is just plain censorship and dictatorial

More proof the MSM has been captured by the CCP

Michael Woods's avatar

Actually the truth is the opposite, which is normal for the DNC, and why it is quickly dying.

Victor's avatar

That’s just wishful thinking. It’s like my friend who said circa 2012 that we wouldn’t see another Republican President for at least 30 years. People underestimate the fact that both sides keep shooting themselves in the feet, and it’s a “lessor of 2 evils” for many of us, which can and will undulate between parties.

Michael Woods's avatar

It’s one thing when the disputes within a Party involve differences of opinion within the framework of democracy and the constitution, and quite another when advocates of the destruction of both, along with non citizen voting rights to accomplish the destruction threaten control of the Party. I stand by my prediction.

As opposed to what? Ending the Constitution entirely? If you haven’t noticed, that is the stated goal of the “socialist” cadre of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party seems determined out of a combination of fear and cowardice, not to fight back against this extremist agenda. They and they alone will bear responsibility

I believe that once an election is certified the winner is the winner. Can those who for whatever reason tampered with the election be prosecuted? Yes they can, however the candidate, assuming no tampering on his or her part, is still the winner. I don't see anything in the Constitution that voids an election for any reason once certified. I'm also not a lawyer and so could be wrong.

I read your referenced article, and it says a lot about things that seemingly happened, then proceeds to connect the dots with no supporting second source. Given the complexion of the article and your reliance on it as "true" I'd have to say that it is one possibility, although in my opinion not the strongest possibility. The author is definitely not a Trump fan, and judging by the comments neither are the readers - and that seems to include you. I believe you're a long time Republican, conservative, right to life supporter, all the things you claim to be. You witnessed Kamala Harris' horrible performance in her campaign, yet you find it factual to claim that Trump winning and Harris losing in 8 swing states seems fishy? What about Ronald Reagan, was his landslide fishy or was he just a more acceptable candidate?

Long story short, there are some truthful data points in the article. I disagree that they do anything except cherry pick headlines that agree with the author's position.

Thanks for a good conversation. I appreciate people who aren't shy about their positions.

You and your joined at the hip TDS infected roommate, BB, should seek immediate interventions followed by your long overdue lobotomies. President Trump received a LANDSLIDE election in 2024, with over 300 Electoral votes, swept all of those "swing states," yours included, if you live in America. What part of "illegitimate" corresponds to any of that? The truly "illegitimate" president was his predecessor in that 2020 farce of a presidential election. The most corrupt administration in recorded history, as it was nothing but the Obama monstrosity redux! Records are available proving how much fraud was running rampant in that election. Only those, like you two, continue to drink the Kool-aid and suck in every false accusation manufactured by other TDS diseased wonks! You and your roommate BB should return immediately to your mental institution before you harm yourselves or others.

Firewagon's avatar

To believe America's elections, and especially that 2020 farce of a presidential election, are, and have been, fair and above board, requires the suspension of reality and common sense! Until that "mail-in vote" scam is eliminated, except for PROVEN invalids and deployed military, and those hackable machines replaced with only paper ballots, voted in person, either by early voting or day of the election, with safeguards installed during the COUNTING process, there can be NO CONFIDENCE that America's elections are NOT corrupted! One other requirement, there can be NO extended period to receive ballots, with the possible exception of those deployed military, that can be counted after ELECTION DAY! As Ripley would say, "BELIEVE IT OR NOT."

JenniferS's avatar

Right on. I would just add, since many people travel a lot for business as I used to do, a mail-in ballot be able to be obtained upon application in person with some substantiation of the need thereof.

He was also one of, if not, the last Governors of CA that ran the state with common sense. They are not representative of the will of the people if they do not pass the SAVE America Act. Possibly it will be enacted, possibly in diluted form, but will a single Democrat vote for it? The polling is pretty clear on the topic. They do not care what the people want, who have spoken through electing Trump, who is constantly being blocked by--I would suspect--more than half of our paid civil servants.

Specifically, at the moment, Democratic Senators, with regard to the SAVE America Act. More generally, Federal employees who do not recognize that Donald Trump is currently their boss. Who is controlling the position of the Democratic party, as a whole? I do not know. Civil servants? Their own arrogance, I suppose. Were there civil servants who did not execute the will of President Joe Biden? I haven't heard of any.

Just remember that Trump “lost” in 2020 by a margin of about 10k votes in AZ, 12k votes in GA, and 21k votes in Wisconsin (a total margin of about 43k). Now keep that in mind with respect to voter machine vulnerabilities, non citizen voter registrations, dirty voter rolls with unchecked mail-in ballots, late-night ballot dumps and realize that only 22k flipped votes changes the result.

That's a no brainer! Just the fraud discovered in Fulton Co, GA had enough votes to put GA back in the RED column! You need to 'read up,' although you no longer have the capability to comprehend, on how many counties, in several states, had voters voting in excess, not of their voter rolls, of their entire county's POPULATION! Those numbers often exceeded 150%.

Your assumptions regarding the the information released strongly suggests you have no intelligence related experience. For instance, the email related to the PDB doesn’t suggest anything nefarious at all. Absent context to support a contrary interpretation, the author is saying the brief was “massaged” to keep it focused on the relevant information rather than politics.

Why should privately owned broadcasters be punished for running programs that generate income instead of giving free time to a politician to vent? I wanted to hear him and so I watched on CSPAN. (Don’t like cbs which also ran it). The Feds are too big for their britches and this is just another example. I haven’t voted for any of the slugs nominated for president since papa Bush. Trump is as bad as I’ve seen but Kamala? Jeez

the long warred's avatar

Because the public airwaves are owned by the nation and therefore regulated by the government - and long to the business advantage of these networks. They are making billions free and using the advantage to deceive and manipulate us. Perhaps antitrust can have a look at broadcasting?

Steve schiwetz's avatar

So by your logic I guess all the networks should be required to air President Bone Spurs’ mouthings anytime he pleases.

The "document releases" show the opposite is these mostly rehashed allegations - and absurd, over-redaction to stoke suspicion. Fox says so - likely because they've already paid $788M for these lies (with more litigation pending). National Review, WSJ, New York Post and magafied CBS all called out these lies. And, of course, every other legitimate outlet.

Mike Thomas's avatar

Huh, that’s weird. The documents actually show that China didn’t get involved and that Russia was involved… on behalf of Trump. Almost like you’re a liar with zero credibility.

Mr. President, don’t let history record that America looked away when the truth was finally within reach. If intelligence was deliberately softened and critical election information withheld from both you and the American people, then sunlight is no longer enough—there must be relentless accountability. Keep the pressure on the Department of Justice until every document is exposed, every decision examined, and every official answers for their actions. If the evidence proves that anyone broke the law or betrayed the public trust, prosecute them without fear or favor. Equal justice means no office, no badge, and no title places anyone above the law.
